University of Washington Climate Impacts Group

The Climate Impacts Group supports the development of climate resilience by advancing understanding and awareness of climate risks, and working closely with public and private entities to apply this information as they act to shape society’s future.

American Meteorological Society

The American Meteorological Society's policy program seeks to present climate science and climate policy accurately and clearly for anyone who wishes to better understand the topic.

Oregon climate action commission reports

Commission reports are a great resource for greenhouse gas emissions data, as well as Oregon priorities for reducing emissions and combating climate change.

Oregon Department of Energy

The Oregon Department of Energy is working to lead Oregon to a safe, clean and sustainable energy future. ODOE tracks Oregon's Renewable Portfolio Standard, supports the Oregon Climate Action Commission, and more.

Oregon Health authority

Oregon's Climate and Health Program works to study, prevent, and plan for the health effects of climate change. OHA's work includes a Climate and Health Resilience Plan, information on climate hazards in Oregon, and tools for addressing the negative health effects of climate change.

Oregon Department of Environmental Quality

Oregon's DEQ is focused on air quality throughout the state. The agency's reporting program helps provide a better understanding of greenhouse gas emissions, and improves the ability to track progress toward meeting reduction goals.

Oregon Department of Transportation

ODOT and the Department of Land Conservation and Development are leading the Oregon Sustainable Transportation Initiative, a statewide effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from transportation while creating healthier, more livable communities and greater economic opportunity. ODOT also works on community planning to adapt to climate change.

DLCD adopts greenhouse gas reduction targets, supports the Oregon Sustainable Transportation Initiative, works to address natural hazards, and supports community transportation plans through its Transportation & Growth Management Program.

 

Local Oregon Government

Ashland Climate Challenge

Ashland is working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and protect people and resources from climate impacts. In 2016, the city asked all residents and businesses to reduce energy use and get involved in creating an inclusive clean energy community.

Corvallis Climate Action Plan

The Corvallis Climate Action Plan was adopted by City Council in December 2016 following a two-year research and development period by the Climate Action Task Force. 

Eugene Climate Action Goals

The Climate Recovery Ordinance sets a goal for the City of Eugene operations to be carbon neutral by 2020. The city will use a variety of tools to reach this goal including: investments in hybrid vehicles and biofuels, energy efficient heating and lighting and higher energy performance standards for new buildings like City Hall.

Portland and Multnomah County Climate Action Plan

In 1993, Portland was the first U.S. city to create a local action plan for cutting carbon. Portland’s Climate Action Plan (CAP) is a strategy to put Portland and Multnomah County on a path to achieve a 40 percent reduction in carbon emissions by 2030 and an 80 percent reduction by 2050 (compared to 1990 levels).

Metro Climate Smart Strategy

The Climate Smart Strategy is a set of policies, strategies and near-term actions to guide how the region moves forward to integrate reducing greenhouse gas emissions with ongoing efforts to create the future we want for our region.
