The Oregon Department of Energy is holding two virtual public meetings on December 7 and 8, 2021 from 9:30 – 11 a.m. to help inform the development of the Oregon Global Warming Commission’s Transformational Integrated Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction (TIGHGER) Plan.
The goal of the Plan is to identify and analyze actions across all sectors that can reduce greenhouse gas emissions, while continuing to grow Oregon’s economy and enhance equity and quality of life of all Oregonians. For example, these actions can include installing more chargers across Oregon to enable higher adoption of electric vehicles, or development of community-scale clean energy based microgrids to help communities be more resilient to disruptions in energy resources. The meetings will focus on the first step of the process – identifying that list of greenhouse reduction actions that should be analyzed.
Toward the end of the process, a final list of actions will be part of the “Roadmap to 2035” and will serve as recommendations for consideration by the Governor, Legislature, and other policy makers to help meet Oregon’s 2035 GHG emissions reduction and carbon sequestration targets.
More detailed information is available on the Oregon Global Warming Commission’s website.
ODOE staff will be sharing information about the overall scope of the Plan, a summary of the modeling approach, and a draft list of actions, and will seek feedback on questions like:
Are there important actions missing from the list?
Are there particular characteristics of the actions that are important to you?
The meetings will be held online via the WebEx platform. Log-in information and meeting materials will be available on the Oregon Global Warming Commission’s TIGHGER Plan webpage.
