Meeting Materials
Oregon will continue to deliberate on a state cap on greenhouse gas emissions, with the expectation that cap-and-invest legislation will be considered again in February 2020 legislative session. Anticipating that the Governor and legislative leadership remain committed to moving such a cap, the Oregon Global Warming Commission can consider and make recommendations on complementary policies and actions to sustain and extend the state’s greenhouse gas reduction efforts. The Commission can also endorse adoption of more systematic climate adaptation measures. With this in mind, the Commission plans to focus on the following topics for this fall and winter:
Building Sector Emissions
Zero- and Low-Carbon Transportation
Natural and Working Lands Sector Carbon
Adaptation and Resilience
Climate Refugees
At the October 25 public meeting, the Commission will cover the first two topic areas with informational presentations and Commission member discussion. No resolutions are expected to be introduced or voted on at this meeting.
At the discretion of the Chair, a public comment opportunity is anticipated at approximately 4:15 p.m. Public comments can also be mailed, emailed, or submitted through the Commission website at www.keeporegoncool.org/contact-us.
If you need special accommodations to participate in the meeting, please contact Linda Ross at 503-378-6874 or at linda.ross@oregon.gov.
